History
In June
2006, The Climate Project (TCP) began operations based in
Nashville, Tennessee, as non-profit organization with the
mission of increasing public awareness of the climate crisis
at a grassroots level in the US and abroad.
By April
2007, a diverse group of 1000 volunteers from every corner of
the USA had been trained to present a version of the slide
show on which the Academy Award-winning film, “An Inconvenient
Truth” is based. More Nashville trainings are planned for
later in 2007, focusing on specific sector groups.
In
addition, TCP/Al Gore-training initiatives have already
trained people in the UK, Australia, Spain, India and
Canada. The heart of The Climate Project lies in the
commitment, dedication and passion of TCP presenters to
educate, encourage and increase dialogue about the climate
crisis and its solutions.

The Climate Project
India
On the 15th of March, 2008, Al Gore brought
his Climate Change leadership program to India to train over a 100
enthusiastic representatives of business, politics and civic
society. To support these presenters, the local Indian chapter
of the Climate Project was setup with generous support from the JSW
Foundation
The Climate Project India will develop a uniquely
Indian approach in helping to
• deliver the climate crisis
message in a relevant expedient way by harnessing the power of mass
mobilisation
• expand the audience of the message of An
Inconvenient Truth and generate an urgency to insist that policy
addressing global warming
becomes top priority
•
educate the public, so they too will make an informed choice and a
deep commitment to stopping dangerous climate change.
This will include translating the message of
Climate Change into the major Indian languages and finding
appropriate communication mediums for each audience.
The Climate Project India is being setup as an
independent organization. It presently enjoys deep support
from the JSW Foundation and is actively seeking support from a broad
base of Indian Business and Philanthropic organizations.
We are currently based in Mumbai but our cadre of
committed presenters are spread throughout India.
